John A. Ruble was the husband of Katherine F. Snouffer, the daughter of Anna Maria (Wirtz) and George Snouffer of Franklin County, OH. Together they had four children: Ellis, Frederick C., Charles B. and an infant who died in childbirth.

"The death of John A. Ruble occured at his home near Rose Hill, Darke county, November 5, 1889, after suffering five months with cancer; aged fifty five years, four months and twenty-three days. He was born in Craig county, Va., in 1834, and came to Ohio when quite young, and had been in the employ of railroad companies until some years back, when he settled on the farm purchased by him near the above mentioned village. Mr. Ruble was respected and esteemed by all who knew him as an honorable and upright man. He was a member of the I.O.O.F., and was buried by the Ansonia Lodge. Bro. Ruble leaves a devoted wife, three sons and many relatives and warm friends to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held from the Christian Church, known as Teagarden Chapel; sermon by Rev. C.W. Heoffer, of Ansonia, assisted by Rev. Harry Lott. The body was buried in Teagarden Cemetery."
