She lived all of her life in Warrick County and was a longtime member of Freedom G.B. Church. Over the years she was active in Warrick County Democrats, Rebekahs and the Boonville Business and Professional Women's Club.

Meredith was preceded in death by husbands, Albert G. Ashley and Leroy A. Elzer; her parents, Willis and Eathel Skelton Sr.; a brother, Willis Skelton Jr.; and a niece, Karla R. Myres.

Meredith worked at Embassy Apparel, Albert Ashley Trucking, Central Industries, Mac's BBQ and Peoples Trust & Savings Bank; but her true love was caring for family, her home and her beautiful yard. Meredith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She campaigned for John F. Kennedy. She enjoyed boating on the Ohio with her family, camping and fishing at Diamond Lake, traveling, quilting, sewing, baking. She was the 'World's Best Grandma' to her grandsons.
