Margaret W. 'Peggy' Kirsch Shook, 87
NORWALK - Margaret W. "Peggy" Kirsch Shook, 87, of Norwalk and formerly of Zanesville, died Wednesday afternoon, in Norwalk Memorial Home.
She was born June 13, 1920, in Cincinnati, to the late Charles M. and Mary E. Warne Kirsch and lived in the Zanesville area until moving to Norwalk in 2005. She was an active member, elder and trustee of the Putnam Presbyterian Church in Zanesville, where her grandfather was a former pastor. She was an active member of the Zanesville Church Women United, a member and former officer of the Putnam Historical Society, the Bethesda Hospital Rose Society and the Herb Club. She was a charter member of the Spring Fields Garden Club and was co-founder of the Spring Fields Junior Garden Club. She was a member of the National Wildlife Society, the Audubon Society and a variety of other nature groups. She enjoyed playing euchre in the Neighborhood/Duncan Falls Euchre Club for over 30 years and enjoyed watercolor painting. She retired from the Muskingum County Treasurer Office and was a former employee of the Zanesville Publishing Company (Times Recorder).
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Leslea S. and Jim Kunz of New Bern, N.C., Stephanie L. Zigo of Norwalk and Cassandra S. and Bob Guard of Zanesville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erica Guard and husband David Freihofer, Alison Guard and Abigail Guard, all of Zanesville, Vanessa Kirsch (Zigo) and husband Terry Tharp of Mount Vernon, Adrienne Zigo of Columbus and Taylor Zigo of Norwalk; her great-granddaughter, Jorian Guard-Freihofer of Zanesville; her stepgranddaughters and husbands, Kristine and Christian Leclerc and their children, Abigail, Jacob and Matthew of Hopkinton, N.H., and Kimberly and Christopher McKee; and their children, Robert and Samuel of Wayne, Maine. She is also survived by her stepgreat-granddaughter, Alexis Tharp of Mount Vernon; a sister, Marilyn "Mickey" Schnell and nieces Bobbi Lynn and Kimberly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenford "Bill" Shook, who passed away in 1979 and by her son, Charles "Charlie" Michael Shook, who died in 1972.
Calling hours will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at the Hillis and Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest St. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville.
