Raymond LeRoy Driggs was born January 3, 1933 in Superior, Nebraska the son of Rufus and Emma Cook Driggs. He was the first New Year's Baby for the town of Superior that year. He passed away February 19, 2009 at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 16 days. Raymond was united in marriage to Alice Ballard on January 5, 1954. To that union four sons were born. Raymond served in the Army for 2 years during the Korean War. He loved fishing and hunting during his younger years and woodworking and painting later in life. He was proud of the accomplishments his sons and grandchildren have made in life. He enjoyed playing with his great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Rogers, Arkansas and enjoyed serving the church. Raymond and Alice lived in Alexandria, Virginia the first year of their marriage while Raymond was stationed at Ft. Belvoir, VA. When he was discharged they moved back to Superior where they lived until April 1959, when they moved to Bentonville, AR. He worked at the Farmers Exchange for 12 years then went to Union Carbide where they made Glad Bags for 21 years before retiring in 1992. He was the fifth of seven children and the first boy. He loved his siblings and helped them out when he could. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters Viola Nelson, Katherine Hendrix and Madeleine Platt; one brother Lawrence Driggs. His legacy and memories will be carried on in the hearts of his wife Alice of the home; his four sons Richard and wife Kathy, Dale and wife Cyndi, Larry and wife Lauri and Dan and wife Susan, all of Bentonville, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his two sisters Gilberetta Creel of Rogers and Larine McKinney of Haskell, TX.


Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Rogers Wesleyan Church with Pastor Norm Mesel officiating. Burial will follow in the Bentonville Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the Benton County Funeral Home in downtown Rogers.
