He was born June 21, 1929, near Virden, the son of Lester and Gladys Van Camp Dickey. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glenn and Robert; and two sisters, Pearl Bristow and Ruby Hasara.
Mr. Dickey owned a bar and grill in Standard City for 20 years and was a self-employed antique dealer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1951 to 1953 and attaining the rank of sergeant E-5. He was a member of Carlinville Moose Lodge 1216 and VFW 1104.
Surviving are a brother, Darrell (wife, Roberta) Dickey of Des Plaines; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2009, at Heinz Funeral Home in Carlinville. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the funeral home with Pastor Darrin Daugherty officiating. Burial will be in Macoupin Creek Cemetery, near Farmersville.
