Mrs. Alice Smiley Dies Thursday

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Allen's Creek Baptist Church for Mrs. Alice Smiley, 63, the widow of the late Jesse Mark Smiley. She died Thursday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harley Radford, on Allen's Creek.

The Rev. William Sorrells, pastor officiated. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were the sons and sons-in-laws. The granddaughters of Mrs. Smiley had charge of the flowers.

Mrs. Smiley, who was a native of Madison County, had resided in the section for the past forty years.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Oscar Sharpe, Mrs. Harvey Mashburn, Mrs. William Hollingsworth, and Mrs. Radford, all of this community; two sons, Burton Smiley, of Weaverville, and Jason, of Waynesville; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
