Funeral of Sophia Frantz

Elsinore, Sevier County, Nov. 6, 1901
The funeral over the remains of Sophia Frantz was held here today, Mrs. Frantz died in her home in Salt Lake, Nov. 2nd of typhoid fever, and was brought here by her husband for interment, arriving over the Rio Grande Western last night. The funeral was held in the meeting house and was one of the largest gatherings of its kind. The young ladies tastily decorated the house for the occasion. Sister Sophia was well known and loved by everybody. She was born here in Elsinore, April 19, 1875, being the first child born in this place. She was married July 17, 1896 and leaves a husband and three children to mourn her departure. Her father, Soren C. Petersen, an old and esteemed citizen of this place was bowed to the ground in grief, this was the fifteen funeral he has had in his family.h Five years ago he buried five children in one month from diphteria. Altogether he has buried two wives and thirteen children. He has the sympathy of the whole community.
