Gale R. Allman Rites Tuesday
The body of 2nd Lt. Gale R. Allman, who was killed May 29, 1944 in a plane crash at Layton, England while with the air force, will arrive in Zanesville Monday evening and will be taken to the Hearing-Bryan-DeLong funeral home.
Lt. Allman was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Allman of 1390 Playford avenue. A native of this city, he was a member of the Central Trinity Methodist church.
After graduating from Lash high school in 1939, he worked at the Simons and Downey filling station on Greenwood avenue. In May 1942 he entered the military service, taking basic training at Santa Anita, Cal., and further training at Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz. He graduated from the Williams field P-38 school in that state.
Surviving are his parents, a daughter, Suzanne of San Fernando, Cal., and a sister, Mrs. Gene Stemfly of New Philadelphia. Private funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. L. A. Schreiber officiating. Burial will be in Memorial park.
