Daughter of Marion Cornelius & Mary Ella (Folmar) Crofford. Wife of William Ralph Camp.

Carrie's tombstone shows her birth year as 1888; however early census records and old letters indicate her correct year of birth as 1886. The 1900 census for Wood County, TX shows she was born in Oct 1886, her sister Amanda ("Mandy Crawford") born in July 1888, and her youngest sister Ethel "Crawford" born in May 1890. The children were farmed out among relatives after their mother, Mary Ella (Folmar) Crofford Leverett, died in 1898.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Crofford Camp, 75 [sic], native of Coke, were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 21 at McCrary-Waggoner-Edwards chapel, with the Rev. Warren Dentler officiating. Burial was at Lee Cemetery.

Mrs. Camp died Friday, June 19, at Reed Rest Home in Winnsboro.

She was born October 15, 1888 in the Coke community of Wood county to M.C. Crofford and the former Mary Ella Folmar. Both parents died before she was eight years old [sic] and she was reared by an uncle, J. J. Rouse.

On February 14, 1915, she married William Ralph Camp, who died March 12, 1936. One son, Talmadge Camp, was killed October 10, 1952 in an auto accident, and one sister, Miss Amanda Crofford, died in July, 1958.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Hillace Scribner of Jacksonville, Fla., one grandson, Gary Ray Camp of Daingerfield and one sister, Mrs. Ethel McRae of Gladewater.

Pallbearers were A.D. Stocks, Jude Jordon, Sam Kersey, Asa Dickson, Solon Wylie and Gary Carnes. Music was provided by the First Christian Church choir.
