Elizabeth received a widow's pension for her husband's service in the Civil War. There is a picture of her and information stating that she was a native of Ohio and wife of the inaugurator and first commander of the Monte Vista Soldiers' Home on p. 145 of the book Representative Women of Colorado: A Pictorial Collection of the Women of Colorado by James Alexander Semple c. 1914. There is a picture and small biography of her in the book Denver's Riverside Cemetery: Where History Lies by Annette L. Student pp. 181-182.
