Born in Woodville, Hants County, Walter was a son of the late Harding and Mary Cecilla (Bowes) Nix.
He worked in Massachusetts for a number of years as a milkman before moving to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He was a carpenter by trade.
He is survived by two sons, Gardner, Bible Hill, Nova Scotia; Harding of Claremont, New Hampshire; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren,
He was predeceased by his wife, Violetta Hagar; eight brothers, Henry, Maurice, Melvin, Ed, Will, Earl, Wilfred, Emerson, and half-sister Georgina.
