Steve N. Zakula, age 90, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Kinney, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Kaiser Hospital in San Diego, Calif. He was born Feb. 26, 1919, in Kinney to Nick and Julia (Mileusnich) Zakula. He was a 1937 graduate of Martin Hughes High School in Buhl.
He served in the Air Force for 24 years and continued with the government with the Air Force for another 10 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in California.
Steve is survived by his wife, Ida Zakula; children, Stephen Zakula of Atlanta, Ga., Marjorie Zakula of Fort Bragg, Calif., and Eugenia Zakula of Friday Harbor, Wash.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Godfrey Zakula of Kinney; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Mike, on Sept. 1, 2000.
