Aunt Winnie was a very loving and compassionate friend to me. I met her in 1957, at the age of 5, when my family moved from Trenton, Nova Scotia to Eagle Rock,(Los Angeles County) California. We lived next door to her and her daughter, Irene Wolfe. They were not particularly friendly with children but there was an immediate friendship between the three of us that lasted until they both passed away. I treasured going to their house and doing yard work and helping with their 5 cats. I sure became a major cat lover for many years. All through my childhood, I was invited to every party or event in their lives. I learned how to act properly around elders and loved clearing the table and doing the dishes after her birthday parties. Mind you the majority of the guests were 60+ and I never wanted to go home. So often I would escape the my unhappy childhood and never failed to feel welcome and loved. They lived at 4746 Vincent Ave., Los Angeles, Ca 90041
They bought the house new in 1906 for $3,000 dollars. They lived their until their deaths.

Dear Aunt Winnie, You gave me more than I can ever express. I often think about you when I handle different interactions and smile knowing that you would be proud. Such joy my dear!
Until we meet again....

Love, James Rowan Mason
