On last Thursday morning, the 26th last, this community and subsequently the entire county, were shocked by the sudden death of Wm. L. Lanam, Auditor elect of this county, of malarial fever, which culminated in a congestive chill, producing death in a very short time.
Mr. Lanam had been suffering from this fever for something like a week but his apparently strong physical organism, gave his friends strong hopes that he would pull through the siege all right; but on Thursday morning when his physicians and attendants were congratulating themselves upon his favorable condition, he was seized with a chill which in a very short time ended in death.
