Dr. Jackson was a pediatrician and child psychiatrist. Her parents were William and Helen Fiske (Banfield) Jackson. She graduated with a B.A. in 1916 at Vassar College and M.D. in 1921 at Johns Hopkins University. She was a postgraduate student in medicine at Vienna (Austria) University and also studied at the Vienna Psychoanalytic Institute. Upon returning the U.S., she began a private practice in New Haven, seeing a few adult patients and a few children in play therapy. By 1947, she had ceased her private practice to devote full time to her hospital work. She joined the staff of Grace-New Haven Community Hospital. Additionally, at the hospital she helped initiate a rooming-in plan for mothers and newborn babies and a parent-child relationship study. She devoted much of her time to clinical studies.
