William Lincoln Abney died at the family home in Paola, Kansas at 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Jan. 25, 1936, at the age of 75 years and six months.

William was born June 27, 1860 in Springfield, Illinois. He married Miss Martha S. Morgan on December 25, 1881. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary at there home last Christmas.

William spent nearly his entire life in Paola, Kansas. He was well known and liked throughout the community. He was a loving father who rejoiced in the happiness of his children and family. Although a man of meager finances he was rich in thought and deed. His unfailing loyalty to family and friends will long be remembered by all who knew him.

He was a 45 year member of the Odd Fellow Lodge.

Survivors include the widow and six children; Marion Abney, Paola, Patsy Mitchell, Yates Center, Kansas, Ethel Rose, Olathe, Eunice Henry, Olathe, Jim Abney, Olathe and Susie Glasscock of Paola. Also two sisters, Mrs. Maggie McCammon and Mrs. Destia McCoy; eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from Metzler's Chapel, Paola, on Sunday afternoon, January 26 at 2:30 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Whittaker of the First Baptist Church of Paola. The Odd Fellow Lodge conducted a short ceremony at the gravesite. Interment was in the Paola Cemetery.
