Lettice Caldwell Alld was born 1797 at Peterborough, New Hampshire. She was the daughter of Samuel Alld and Martha Swan Alld. Lettice's sister, Hannah, born 1795, married John Metcalf. Hannah died 13 May 1832.

Lettice's grandfather, William Swan, drowned in Lake Champlain on Christmas Day 1799. His first wife, Annas Wood, was Lettice's grandmother. They lived in St. Albans, Vermont. Lettice's mother, Martha Swan was born 23 Jan 1771. She married Samuel Alld. She died 23 October 1821.

She married Lorrin Way 25 February 1816. Lorrin was born 30 June 1796 at Lempster, New Hampshire, son of Jasper and Betsy Odiorne Way.

Children born in NH between 1816 and 1829: Samuel, Erastus, Jasper, Martha, Sarah, Addison and John.

Lorrin and Lettice were divorced in 1929.

Lettice married second John Whitten or Whitton on 26 March 1831 at Rochester, Vermont. He died 16 July 1845 at Rochester. They had children, Charles F., and James Whitten; possibly a George Sam. In a 1910 80th birthday party for Jasper Way's wife, Anna, mention is made of James Whitton of Haley, Idaho.

Samuel is the son of Lettice and Lorrin's daughter, Martha Way Spafford.

Lorrin Way married second Maria Rogers on 2 April 1831. She was born in 1797, daughter of John and Polly Reynolds Rogers. Maria died 1859, age 62.

Lorrin is at Marshfield, Vermont in 1840 and returned to Lempster, New Hampshire in 1850. In 1850: Loren age 54, born New Hampshire, real estate valued at $1,100, farmer. Wife Maria is age 49. He died 18 August 1857 at Lempster, NH.
