ET2 (Electronics Technician 2nd Class) Longcrier was a United States Navy Korean War veteran. He saw service on the USS Frontier (AD-25) and the USS McKean (DD-784). The USS McKean was the only American warship that was credited with sinking a Russian submarine, during the Korean war. The USS McKean was protecting a US Navy task force and dropped depth charges on a sonar contact in Korean waters. The incident was kept secret, but was later documented in the book "Blind Man's Bluff". Mr. Longcrier was also awarded the US Navy Good Conduct medal, the Navy Occupation Service medal with Japan clasps, the China Service medal, the Korean Service medal with 3 bronze service stars (for service on the McKean) and the United Nations Service medal.
