Funeral Service for Mr. Alfred Eugene Bowman, Sr., age 67, will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in Day Spring Baptist Church, 5654 Dunn Ave., where he held membership, Rev. Jeffery K. Rumlin, Pastor, officiating. Mr. Bowman of 1055 W. 30th St. passed away March 11, 2009. A Jacksonville native, he was educated in the public schools of Duval County, graduating from Stanton Vocational High School. Furthering his education, he attended Jones College for 2 years and in 1963 was inducted into the U.S. Army, where he served until being honorably discharged. Mr. Bowman was a Jeweler for Zales Jewelery Co. until retiring after 42 years of dedicated service. He was predeceased by his brother, H. Nathaniel Bowman, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lola Culver Bowman; father, Herbert N. Bowman, Sr.; son, Alfred E. Bowman, Jr.; 4 grandchildren; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; a number of other relatives and friends. Mr. Bowman will rest in the mortuary for visitation today, from 5pm until 8pm (where the family will receive friends at 5pm) and in the church Wednesday from 9am until the hour of service. Interment will be in Jacksonville National Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at the residence under the direction of Alphonso West Mortuary, Inc., 4409 Soutel Dr.
