~*~ Betty Nelson Obituary ~*~

Betty Johanna Nelson went peacefully in her sleep Oct. 4, 2008, to be with the Lord at age 81.

Betty was born in Eli, Neb., to Alexander and Erma Rohwedder. At the age of two, Betty and her family moved west to Kelso. She graduated from Kelso High School.

She met the love of her life, Chester Nelson, on a blind date. They were married March 16, 1946. They had two children.

Betty enjoyed camping with family, going to the beach or testing her luck in Reno. She also enjoyed gardening and canning, but most of all, she loved to spoil her grandchildren. Her personality was energizing, everybody who met her loved her. She will be greatly missed. She was Chet's Angel.

Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, Chet; their children, Ricky (Jackie) and Theresa (Keith); their grandchildren, Tammy, Tracy (Jack), Brian (Amanda) and Lindsey (Tim); their great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kylee, Kolby, Annya, Bryan and Margret Johanna; their step great-grandchildren, Sophie, Soren, Maggie, Justin, Kylee and Marin; her brothers, Lex and Roy; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Jenny.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Ola and Wava Dean; and her brother, Bobby.

A private service will be held Thursday at Bunker Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Columbia Funeral Service.
