Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Fairgrove United Methodist Church, where he was a member, and burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites by the Rockingham Co. Veteran's Honor Guard and the N. C. National Guard.
A native of Brown Summit, he was a son of the late Vernon McDonald and Reubena Carter Preston and had lived most of his life in the Fairgrove Community of Guilford Co.. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Northeast Civitan Club for over 40 years and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Volunteer Fire Dept. Mr. Preston was a very faithful member of Fairgrove United Meth. Church and was involved in all the activities that he could participate in. He was a member of the church choir for over 50 years. Mr. Preston was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend: Lena D. Preston.
Surviving are sons, Jimmy Preston and wife Debra of Greensboro, Mike Preston of Reidsville, daughter Joann Forbes and husband Jim of Brown Summit; grandchildren Wade and Tracy Forbes, Scott and Misty Preston, Sheri and Danny Sapp, Kevin and Lori Preston, and Jonathan and Jennifer Preston; eight great grandchildren.
