Roscoe Alexander Dobbs was the son of Bennett and Francis (Butler) Dobbs. He was the husband of Marie (Plaster) Dobbs. They had one child, a daughter named Leta Marie (Dobbs) Schooler.

Roscoe served in France during World War I in Co. B, 129th machine gun battalion and received leg and hand wounds, which resulted in his receiving the Purple Heart award from the war department. He was overseas for more than a year.

He died from cancer at the age of 48 in a veteran's hospital.
