Underwood- Mrs. Mary O. Underwood died at 12:15 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs Fred Batzer, Cass Avenue road, of a cerebral hemorthage. The widow of Charles C. Underwood, who died in 1939 she has been ill three months. She was born Sept. 19, 1865 in Bay City. Three daughters survive, Mrs. Jennie Remender, Flint, and Mrs. Batzer. she also leaves 15 grand-children and several great-grand children; a brother, John Whalen, Wyandotte; and four sisters, Mrs. Ella Lanouette, Wyandotte, Mrs. Anna Robison, Wyandotte, and Mrs. Emma Groulx and Mrs. Harriett Joyce, both of Bay City. Mrs Underwood was married here Nov. 1, 1882. She was a lifetime resident of Portsmouth township and a member of Salem Evangelical United Brethren church and the Gleaners. Funeral services will be Thrusday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Vallender and Penzien Funeral home. The Rev. Leon Willoughby will officiate and burial will be in Pine Ridge cemetery. Her maiden name was Mary Whalen.
