I met Bobbie in the 7th grade at Roosevelt Jr. High School in SF. She was a tiny little thing, just 4'7". I called her "Mouse". We shared all the secrets that teenagers girls share until I moved away in the 10th grade. I saw her several times after that. I saw her two beautiful little girls but not her sons and another daughter. After that, I tried to find her from time to time but never could.
Her brother, Richard died this last Jan. and I just happened to see his obits on the internet......... I had finally found someone that could tell me where Mouse was. I made contact with his family only to find that my sweet little friend was gone as was all of her family. Lung Cancer took her and Richard, as well as their father, Andrew J. Laton. Her sister, Shirley and her mother, Anna, had died years ago. (All are listed on F.A.G.)
Survivors are her children: Laura, Catherine, Michael, James, Debbie, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Sometimes in life, you find a special friend;
Someone who changes your life
just by being part of it.
Someone who makes you laugh
until you can't stop;
Someone who makes you believe
that there really is good in the world.
Someone who convinces you
that there really is an unlocked door
just waiting for you to open it.
This is Forever Friendship.
This was my 'Mouse'.
I have always remembered Mouse and the fun we had and the friendship and secrets we shared. Now these memories are bittersweet.
Goodbye for now my treasured friend. I'll look for you when I get there.
