James M Fryman was the son of Phillip and Catherine "Caty" Baker Fryman. He married Mary Jane Herrington and had the following children: Ashford, Willis, Columbus Washington, George Henry, Green, Charley, Ellen, Lue, Sarah Elizabeth, and Oscar. Mary Jane passed away on 29 November 1875. James M took Martha Varnum as his second wife. They had the following children: Ida Frances, Newton, Ora, Albert Levi, Eli "Sam", Thyiena, Cora, Andy Herbert, Effie, and Hanson. According to the Epperson papers in the Harrison County Library, James Martin Fryman had a total of 25 children between both wives. There were several children who were either stillborn or died as infants that there seems to be no record for. (This information was given to Maude Epperson, author of the Epperson Papers by one of his daughters.) James Martin passed away on the 10 July 1909.
