"William James Cann, the fourth child of Joseph and Catherine (Bittinger) Cann was born in Butler Co., OH. He was involved in farming with his father near Okeana, OH until his marriage to Eliza A. Moorehead (or Moorhead) in 1867. By 1875, James and Eliza had removed to Bartholomew Co., IN, where James, again, worked with the land.

A final move was made by the Canns to Cowley Co., KS before 1895, at which time the family was living on a farm in Pleasant Valley Twp. Following her husband's death, Eliza chose the town of Winfield as the place where she would live the remainder of her life.

William James and Eliza Cann were the parents of two sons and two daughters." JKA
