FULTON SUN OBITUARY March 6, 1950- "One of the most prominent and best known farmers in Callaway Co., W.E. Muir, 91, who had been retired for a number of years, died Sunday morning at his home, 510 E.8th, where he had lived for the past 3 years. Funeral Services will be held Tues. at 2:30 pm at the Wallace Funeral Home with Dr. JD Randolph officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Muir, Elgin Muir, Gene Brown, Grover Sims, L.L. Dean, and Willard Creed. He was born... and spent most of his early life in the Hams Prairie Community. He moved to Richland, south of McCredie, 65 years ago where he lived until he moved to Fulton. He was married to the former Virginia Dunham and two children were born. She died a number of years ago and in 1888 he was married to the former Synthia Sacre, who died in 1939. The couple had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary 11 years ago. He was active in comm. affairs and helped organize and build the McCredie Methodist Church, of which he was a member. He was the director and VP of the McCredie Bank for a number of years and had a wide reputation as a stock raiser and shipper in this part of the state."
