Mary Stuart Cranmer Mintz, 92, of, 2701 Amhurst St. New Bern, NC, died November 6, 2003, at Berne Retirement Village in New Bern. Mrs Mintz was born in Southport, NC, on November 16, 1910, to the late Judge Edward H. Cranmer and Mary Elizabeth Pearce Cranmer.
After 35 year of marriage, she was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Rudolph I. Mintz, in February,1970.
She was a homemaker, pianist and a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Wilmington NC.
Mrs. Mintz attended public schools in Southport and graduated with an Associate Batchelor of Arts Degree in Music Construction from Louisburg College in June, 1930.
She received her Bachelor of Music Degree form Bush Conservatory in Chicago, Illinois, in June, 1932.
She returned after graduation to Southport, NC, where she taught music and piano. She moved with her family to Wilmington in 1947 and lived there until 1987.
She was very active in the Music Club in Wilmington, NC.
She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Mary Mintz Sandifer and husband Dr. Paul Sandifer of Chapin, SC, and Alice Jeanette Mintz Deines and husband Maury Deines of Sun City, AZ, one son, Dr. Rudolph Ivey Mintz Jr. and wife Connie Nobles Mintz of Kinston, four grandchildren, Karen Holmcrans of Takoma Park Maryland, Jennifer Deines Topliff of Fort Collins, Colorado, Katherine Stuart Mintz of Wilmington and Rudolph Ivey Mintz III of Chapel Hill and three great-grandchildren; Mary Ann Holmcrans, Katie Holmcrans, and Dylan Holmcrans, all of Takoma Park, Maryland.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2003, at Westminster United Methodist Church with Pastor Haywood Smith officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2003, at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington NC.
