Army Pfc. Hardt was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York. He died at Forward Operating Base Airborne in Wardak Province, of a gunshot wound in a non-combat related incident. Adam attended LaJoya Community High School in Avondale, Arizona. He earned good grades and was not a problem in school, but during his sophomore year he was dropped due to non-attendance. In August 2007, he joined the Army and was deployed to Afghanistan in the December-January timeframe as a multichannel systems operator maintainer. His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon. Adam enjoyed sports and school and planned on getting a degree in Astrophysics or Physics after his six-year commitment with the Army ended.
