Funeral services for A. C. "Bud" Hill, 91, of Portales will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 26, 2009, in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Terry Hill officiating.� Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Levi Hill, Greg Hill, Norman Kia, Tyrel Harington, Billy Stacy and Carl "Sonny" McCoy serving as pallbearers.
Alvin C. Hill, known to most people as "Bud" was born April 19, 1917, in Maude, TX, to Effie and Charles Hill and died March 23, 2009, in Portales.� He lived his early years in Maude, and moved to Portales in 1930.� For a number of years he farmed with his father.� Later he owned the franchises for ICX Freight and Lang Trucking.� After the franchises were closed, he continued as a driver for ICX in Clovis for several more years.� At the age of 62, Bud began mowing yards in Portales.� He continued with his mowing business until he was 86 years old.� He enjoyed gardening and making ceramics.� He was married to his wife, Helen for many years and the couple had four sons before they divorced.� For a number of years, he was a living companion to Geneva Clements until her death in 1997.� On March 24, 2000, he was married to Orleana Wilcox.� Mr. Hill was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Orleana of Portales; four sons, Terry (Heidi) Hill and Buddy (Maloy) Hill both of Jal, NM, Lonnie (Vernette) Hill of Big Spring, TX, and Ronnie Hill of Corpus Christi, TX; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harley "Pug" Hill of Portales and a sister, Ruth Gibbs of Clovis.�
He was preceded in death by both of his parents; four brothers, Melvin, Hardy, Charley and Will and a sister, Mary Peterson.
