My great grandmother was the third child, and first daughter of James Stamford Houser (1825-1859) and Martha Elizabeth Baber (1825-1900). Her father was born in York, South Carolina, and Married Martha, March 23, 1847 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. By 1850 we find them living in Chickasaw, Mississippi. James Stamford Houser passed away unexpectedly in 1859, cause unknown. Martha Elizabeth Baber Houser remarried July 3, 1864 in McLennan, Texas, to James M Proctor (1820-1880). Anna J Houser was just a young girl when her father died, so she and her siblings must have not known him well, and probably considered James Proctor the father figure in their lives.

When 21 or 22 years old, Anna met and fell in love with William Pickens Crow. They were married March 11, 1875 in Waco, McLennan, Texas.

They became parents to my grandfather, William Stamford Crow (1875-1960), Eula Crow (1877-1961), John H Crow (1881-1950), O.F. Edna Crow (1882-1967), Frank Hill Crow (1884-1920), and Fan Lou Crow (1887-1972).
