Lewis B. Hewling, 81, of Monitor, a resident of the Wenatchee Valley for the past 63 years, died at his home Saturday following a sudden illness.
Born in West Liberty, Ohio, Sept. 9, 1886, he came to Wenatchee with his parents in 1905 and homesteaded in the Squilchuck area. He married Bessie Yates in Wenatchee in 1909.
Mr. Hewling was employed by Columbia Ice and Cold Storage until his retirement in 1953.
Surviving are: one son, Howard Hewling, Carson City, Nev.; three daughters, Mrs. Nick (Dorothy) Sampson, Wenatchee, Mrs. Kenneth (Marilou) Bennet, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Mrs. Helen Rodriguez, Jerome, Idaho; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Franklin, Wenatchee; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death in 1958. Services are announced by the Jones & Jones Funeral Home.
