Elijah Green Bement was born 18 Oct 1808 in the town of Ashfield in Franklin county Massachusetts. He traveled to Colorado where he was one of the few Pioneers there in the early days. His parents were Russell Bement (1788-1836), and Sally Flower Bement (1786-1882). His wife was also from Ashfield, Massachusetts. She was Julia Holmes who was born 4 Jan 1810. They were married on 13 December 1834 in their hometown of Ashfield. They had at least one child; Henry C. Bement (1849-1936). Julia died in Wisconsin in 1855. Elijah died 9 June 1883 in Colorado. He lived to be 74 years 7 months and 2 days old according to his tombstone and that was pretty good back in the day considering all the hardships.
