Funeral services for Biola G. Aguirre of Carrizo Springs were held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Carrizo Springs at 2:00 p.m. Biola was born September 13, 1949 to Francisco and Adelmira (Zavala) Garcia in Monroe, Michigan, but had lived most all of her life in Carrizo Springs. On August 26, 1969 she married Joe Aguirre, III. She worked many years in the Housekeeping Department at the Dimmit County Memorial Hospital, and was a homemaker the rest of her life. Biola died the previous Tuesday at the University Hospital in San Antonio following an extended illness. She was 59 years of age.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Aguirre, III of Carrizo Springs; two sons, Michael Lee Aguirre of Carrizo Springs and Joe L. Aguirre, also of Carrizo Springs; one sister, Virginia Olvera of Carrizo Springs; four grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Her daughter, Jennifer Aguirre, preceded her in death in 1994.

Fr. Mario Flores Meza was the celebrant for the Requiem Mass and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Carrizo Springs under the direction of the Leonard Funeral Home, a member of the International Order of the Golden Rule.

Serving as pallbearers were Jon (Jhon) Garcia, Gus Garcia, Rudy Aguirre, Jr., Roy Ortiz, Chris Olvera, and Guillermo Ortiz.
