Theodore graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1871, Phi Beta Kappa. He was owner of the L T Cole Statute Law Book Company in Washington, DC for many years, retiring in 1930 and moving to Montclair, NJ. He was considered a librarian and scholar of note and was an author of a number of law books. In Washington, he was active in the Cosmos Club, The Kalorama Road Citizens Association and the District Library Association. His wife, Catherine "Kate" (Dewey) Cole an active clubwoman of Washington, and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, died in 1922. His son, Felix Cole was a distinguised State Dept. employee, holding many Consular and Foreign Service positions around the world.
