Otto Schmeisser is Called to Rest Saturday Morning
Kiel, Wis. - Otto Schmeisser, 72, of School Hill, passed away Saturday at 10:45 p.m. at the Holy Family hospital at Manitowoc where he had been confined since last Tuesday. He had been in ill health for the past two years.
Mr. Schmeisser was born Sept. 6, 1870, in Germany, and came to this country in 1885, direct to Cleveland, Wis., where he worked on various farms.

He was married to Miss Athela Walthers of the town of Meeme on Nov. 4, 1894, and they settled on a farm near School Hill. During his life he was employed at the sawmill at School Hill, operated a tavern at Centerville, and was bridge contractor for Manitowoc county. He later purchased a farm in Town Schleswig.

For the past three years he lived with a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Kroening at School Hill, and the past four weeks with another daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kalk, at Manitowoc.

His wife died in June, 1927, and two sons, Arnold and Raymond, also preceded him in death. Survivors are five children, Mrs. George (Hildegarde) Scheel of St. Nazianz, Mrs. Arnold (Mildred) Kroening of School Hill, Mrs. Carl
(Almira) Kalk of Manitowoc, Herbert of Osman, and Oliver of Oshkosh; seven grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters Oscar, Arno, Alvin, Martha and Olga, all in Germany.

Since coming to this country Mr. Schmeisser made five trips to Germany, the last trip being five years ago. He was a member of the Men's Germania society of Centerville.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs.Arnold Kroening of School Hill, the Rev. August H. Hammann of the Bethlehem Reformed church of Town Schleswig officiating. Burial will be made in Union
cemetery near Louis Corners.
Friends may call at the Kroening home beginning this evening.
