Gladys (Lawson) Christensen, 93, of 60 Orchard Rd., Windsor, died Friday (Sept. 15) at home. Born in Hartford, Sept. 22, 1901, the daughter of the late John and Jane (Kennedy) Lawson, she had lived in Windsor for 78 years. She was the widow of John Christensen, Wilson market gardener, former State Commissioner of Agriculture, and former State Senator. She attended the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing, was Past Worthy Matron and 50 year member of Eureka Chapter No. 56 O.E.S. (now Ionic Chapter No. 100 of Enfield), a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Windsor, a member of Joy Circle and United Methodist Women, a member of Gray-Dickinson Unit No. 59 American Legion Auxiliary, and was one of the original founders of the Wilson Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary in the 1920's. She leaves a daughter, Nan C. Carmon of Windsor, her children and their spouses, John C. and Linda Carmon, Frank III "Bill" and Wanda Carmon, with whom she made her home, all of Windsor, Richard L. and Chris Carmon of Suffield, Marjorie C. and John D'Agata of Windsor, their children, Jay Carmon, Cpl. Scott M. Carmon, U.S.M.C., Matthew R. Carmon, Adam R. Carmon, Lisa M. Carmon, Frank W. Carmon IV, Timothy H. Carmon, Anna F. Carmon, Sara B. Carmon, Michael J. D'Agata, Matthew C. D'Agata, John D. D'Agata Jr.; a step-daughter, Dorothy C. Ritter of Tiverton, R.I.; six step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday, 11 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 180 Park Ave., Windsor, with the Rev. Roy Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be in Palisado Cemetery, Windsor. Her family will receive friends today, 3-5 and 7-9 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Donations may be made in her memory to the Frank and Nan Carmon Youth Fund, c/o Trinity United Methodist Church, 180 Park Ave., Windsor 06095, or to the Trinity Christian Elementary School, 180 Park Ave., Windsor 06095.
