Obituary excerpted from The Aegis, March 27, 2009:

Harford County Council member and community leader, Veronica "Roni" Chenowith, age 70, of Fallston, MD, died March 24, 2009, at her home after a hard fought battle with leukemia. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Clement Patrick Stoney,Sr. and Mary Louise Mathias Stoney.
Councilwoman Chenowith served on the Harford County Council for 15 years and would have completed her fourth term in November of 2010. She was first elected in 1994, representing District B, which included the communities of Fallston and Abingdon. Her insight and working knowledge of the county helped immensely in issues concerning zoning and re-districting. She was instrumental in creating legislation to support Continuing Care Retirement communities and to bring about changes to help with the Exxon MTBE well contamination issues.
She started her lifelong career of public service through her leadership in the Fallston Recreation Council and the Youth Benefit Elementary School PTA. With her husband, she co-founded Fallston Little League football, and was active in the lacrosse and baseball programs. At the 2008 groundbreaking ceremony for the Fallston Recreation and Senior Center, it was announced the Center would bear her name in tribute for all she had done for the community.
She was an ardent supporter of the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the Sexual Abuse Resource Center, a co-founder of Harford United Charities, and the Harford County Library Foundation. In 2009, she was awarded the Human Relations Commission Martin Luther King/Joseph Bond Good Neighbor Award.
Mrs. Chenowith is survived by her husband of 48 years, Joseph J. Chenowith, Sr., of Fallston; son Joseph J. Chenowith, Jr. and family of Bel Air; brother C. Patrick Stoney, Jr. and family; sister Joyce Ferkler of Bel Air; sister Cheryl Ann Stoney, and several nieces and one nephew, great-nieces, and a great-nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey J. Chenowith, who was always in her thoughts, prayers, and heart.
Services held at Mountain Christian Church Tuesday, March 31.
