Joseph Henry Derosier was the superintendent of Woodside blanket and satinette mills. He died after three days' illness of pneumonia and had complained of a cold for four weeks before that.

He was 53 years old and was born in Lanoraie, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Comtois) Derosier. The family came to Northboro when he was 18. Joseph began work for E. W. Norcross. In 1869 he was married in Lowell to Mary, daughter of Clement and Louise St. Onge. In the 1880 census, he is listed as working at the "shoddy mill" and living next to his sister, Minnie Roberts.

At the age of twenty he entered the mill of D. F. Wood, worked as a spinner, a loom fixer and finally became overseer of the weave room until it closed on July 28, 1902. When he was a foreman at the mill, Joseph would throw little bags of candy from his office window, down to his brother Hercules' two daughters Lillian and Jeannia.

Joseph was also a prominent member of the Siloaen lodge and of Marlboro King Saul lodge. He was twice constable of Northboro. At the time of his death, he left a substantial estate that included over $2,400 in five banks, real estate, and a list of many individual items, like the diamond stud he is wearing in this family photo.

He was survived by his wife, three daughters and three sons: Mrs. Emma Gaucher of Main St, Arthur J of Chapinville, Charles of Brockton, Fred of Northboro, Louise and Josephine. Three brothers and three sisters also survive: Arthur Sr of East Brookfield, Frank of Northboro, Mrs Louise Lamoreaux, Chapinville, Mrs Frank Roberts of Northboro, Mrs Elizabeth Paul of Canada.
