William Robert von Ahnen was born on November 15, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York. He was the son of Kurt von Ahnen and Anna Milavec, and the brother of Robert J., Elizabeth (Sister M. Robert Ann, IHM), and Thomas. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
William married Catherine Theresa Graytock on August 7, 1965, in Forest City, Pennsylvania. They were the parents of five sons and two daughters.
He died on November 20, 2002, in the Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale, at the age of 61, and was buried in Clinton Center Cemetery in Waymart, Pennsylvania.

"William "Bill" von Ahnen, 61, of RR 1 Waymart, died Wednesday (Nov. 20) morning at Marian Community Hospital after an illness. His wife of 37 years is the former Catherine Graytock.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Anna Milvec von Ahnen and the late Kurt von Ahnen, he was a resident of Forest City and Clinton Township areas most of his life and was a 1959 graduate of Forest City High School. Before retirement, he was a quality control inspector for General Dynamics, Eynon. He was of the Catholic faith.
Also surviving are five sons, Christopher, Olyhant, William, stationed in Bosnia with the Army National Guard, Jonathan, Dickson City, Michael, stationed in San Antonio, Texas, with the Air Force, and Mark, Carbondale; two daughters, Celeste Collier, Princeton, Texas, and Cathleen Mall, Easton; a brother, Robert, Forest City; a sister, Sister Robert Ann von Ahnen, IHM, Scranton; a grandson; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Thomas.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont St., Waymart, with services by the Rev. John Albosta, pastor, St. Mary's Church. Interment, Clinton Center Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m."
