Inscription
Here, resigned to God lies the body of that truly good and pious woman the late Mrs. Mary Lowndes, second wife of Rawlins Lowndes Esq. In whose exemplary life was displayed as many virtues and graces as little allayed as were consistent with morality and in which was exhibited a most finished character. In all her relative duties and offices of social and domestic life it pleased God after making her the faithful instrument of numerous offspring seven of whom survive her. She should at last in giving life to another lose her own on Sunday the sixteenth of December 1770 in the 34th year of her age.
Gratitude and every other motive which sense of the highest obligation can inspire during the course of 19 happy years union demand this tribute justly due to the memory of the most excellent endearing wife from an infinitely obliged husband "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints".
Gravesite Details
