"Resolutions of Respect"
"To the Worshipful Mater, Wardens and Brethren of Saratoga Lodge No. 546 AF & AM:
We, your committee appointed to draft resolutions of respect to the memory of our deceased brother, Henry Washington Yates, beg leave to submit the following:
1. That we deplore his sudden departure.
2. Rap! Rap! Rap! - Brethren, as you stand there istening, will you not exclaim, "How fast they fall, those we have known, as leaves from autumn branches blown; so quickly sear. Yea, one by one they drop away, as withered leaves that fall astray, and disappear." And yet we bow in humble submission to this, another sounding of the Supreme gavel.
3. That we tender our sympathies to the bereaved family.
4. That the lodge be draped and the members wear the badge of mourning for 30 days.
5. That a page of our minutes be set apart to his memory.
Respectfully submitted,
J.T. Donovan, sr.,
W.R. Willaimson,
T.H. Haynie, Committee."
