Ebenezer Davidson
Son of Hugh and Jane (Hamilton) Davidson, was born at Brainards Bridge, Rensselaer County, New York September 13, 1846. When four years of age he came to Wisconsin with his parents and settled on a farm in the town of Geneva, where his boyhood and youth were passed. When only 17 years of age he enlisted in the month of November, 1863, in Company F, Fourth Wisconsin cavalry in which he served nearly three years. He took part in the battles of Fort Hudson, Mobile, Spanish Fort and many other less important battles and skirmishes down through Missouri, Louisiana and Texan, during all of which time, Eb, as he was called, was always at his post and discharged his duty. He was mustered out of the service May 26, 1866.
After the war was over Mr. Davidson returned to the home of his boyhood, where he remained until 1874, when he went to Nevada and acted as receiver for the Eureka Consolidated Mining Company for several years. While in Nevada he acted a paymaster of the Second Brigade, State Militia, for six years. While in the west he came back to Wisconsin and bought the home farm which he has owned ever since - as fine a farm as any one can ask.
On the third of September 1869 Mr. Davidson was united in marriage with Miss Ellen A. Stevens, to which union two children were born; Florence and one who died in infancy.
The funeral will be held at the Methodist church next Sunday afternoon under the direction of his Grand Army comrades.
