W. G. ACKER DEAD
W. G. Acher was born April 20, 1864, in Baden, Germany, died at his home on South Main street, Windsor, Mo., Monday night, Dec. 30, 1929, after a six month's illness. He came to the United States with his parents when a baby and lived near Clinton until a young man. He located on a farm five miles southwest of Windsor, where he resided until eight years ago when he moved to Windsor. Dec 30, 1885 he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Trachsel, and to this union six children were born, five of whom survive, viz.: Wilford Acker, of Green Ridge; Fred Acker, Mrs. Reah Keller, Mrs. Mary Hughes and Matt Acker all of Windsor and vicinity. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, one step-daughter Mrs. Walthal Neece of Springfork, Mo., two brothers, Fred and Frank Acker of Windsor, two sisters, Mrs. Ira Turner of Windsor, and Mrs. Ed Hoppe of Clinton. Mrs. Acker died July 6, 1901, and on December 4, 1906 the deceased was united in marriage to Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Neiman, who survives.
A number of years ago he united with the Hayden Grove Christian church and held his membership in that organization when the death summons came. He was an honored member of the Masonic and I. O . O. F. lodges.
Eight years ago the deceased moved to Windsor and for a year or two was the manager of the Farmers Elevator. He was an honest straightforward man, quiet and unassuming, and a business man of ability. He had by the practice of economy and hard work accumulated a competence and came to town to take life a little easier. The writer will miss him for the reason that since he had moved to South Main street there was scarcely a day that he did not stop at the front porch at our house and visit with us in the evening as he would go up town for something. He was a high class citizen in any community, a good neighbor and his friends are legion.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. H. W. Hughes, will be held at the Christian church this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30, and interment will be made in Laurel Oak Cemetery under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge.
