Cecil R. Carney, 89, of Star Route, Honesdale, died Monday in St. Joseph's Hospital, Hazleton, after an illness. He was the husband of the former Lillian Skinner, who preceded him in death.
Born in Little Basket, N.Y., son of the late Alexander and Genevieve Stanton Carney, he was a retired dairy farmer.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lila Marie Hayes, Star Route, Honesdale, and Mrs. Faye L. Megargel, Old Forge; two sons, Donald C., Lake Ariel RD2, and Clint L., Honesdale; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nettie Hansen; and two brothers, Ferris and Hurley.
The funeral will be Friday with services at 11 a.m. in the Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 N. Main St., Honesdale, by the Rev. Paul McCauley, pastor of Torrey United Methodist Church. Interment, Torrey Cemetery.
