Mrs. Charles E. Coombes, 76, wife of a prominent Stamford attorney, moved to Knox County with her parents before 1885 and helped organize that county. She and her husband had lived in Stamford, Texas since 1927. Mrs. Coombes was active in the Central Christian Church.

Survived by one daughter - Mrs. Henegan; four sons - C.E. Coombes, Jr., Joe Coombes, Jerry Coombes, Zach Coombes; three sisters - Mrs. Mary Hinton, Mrs. J.O. Jones, Mrs. George Ratliff; three brothers - H.G. Bedford, Rufus Bedford, Charlie Bedford; two grandchildren.
