He was the son of the late Arthur Hiott and June (Miles) Hiott, of Walterboro.
He traveled extensively growing up and graduated from high School in Larimore, ND in 1978. Rodney enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in many places including Ft. Lewis, WA, Germany and Ft. Polk, LA.
Rodney enjoyed fishing and camping.
He was married first to Rebecca Paterson and later to Joyce Whit. Surviving are his mother, June Hiott, of Walterboro, SC; daughter, Jennifer, of Grand Forks; sons, Michael, of Devils Lake, ND, Rod, Jr., Grand Forks, ND and Robert, of Nebraska; sisters, of Rhonda Hiott, Walterboro, SC, Debbie Olson and husband Scott, of Grand Forks and Janie Northberg and husband Terry, of Wheaton, ND.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Effie Johns-Hiott and great-grandparents, Robert "RP" and Janie L. Hiott.
