Mrs. Adams died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at her home.
She was born April 19, 1933 in Topeka, the daughter of Charley Allen and Irene A. Hestand Faulk.
She was a graduate of Auburn High School and Clark's Business College in Topeka. She worked as a secretary for the special education department at Kansas University for many years and retired in 1991. She had formerly worked for the Calvin Eddy Kappelman insurance company and was a legal secretary for Robert Oyler, attorney at law.
She was a member of the De Soto Baptist Church and a charter member of Lawrence Heights Christian Church in Lawrence. She was a member of the 33 Club and TOPS, was a longtime volunteer for Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and was Mrs. Jayhawk at Sunset Hill School.
She married John S. Adams on Nov. 13, 1950, in Topeka. He survives, of Lawrence.
Other survivors include one son, John Adams Jr. and wife Susie, Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Gwendy Olivarez and husband Robert, of De Soto; three brothers, Charley A. "Bud" Faulk and William D. "Bill" Faulk, both of Topeka, and Carl K. Faulk, of Rock Port, Texas; two sisters, Norma Lou Henderson of Wabaunsee County and Ruth Ann Zimmerman of Topeka; 10 grandchildren, John S. Adams III, Jessica Adams, Rebecca Adams, Courtney Otter, Casey Fitzgerald, Carey Hass, Emilia Parrilla, Alicia Smith, Peter Olivarez and Nicholas Olivarez; 18 great-grandchildren.
