"Paul S. Gable, 88, a retired employee of the Government Printing Office, died yesterday at a silver Spring nursing home after a three-year illness.

A Washington resident for 65 years. Mr. Gable came here from his native Shafferstown [sic- Schaefferstown], Pa., in 1896 to work at the printing office. He was made a proofreader in 1903, an editor in 1924 and was promoted to a supervisory job of the following year. He retired from the GPO in 1933.

Prior to his illness he lived at 4616 Fifteenth street N.W.

Mr. Gable was a 50-year member of the Columbia Lodge IOOF, and a charter member of Keller Memorial Lutheran Church, Ninth street and Maryland avenue N.E. He also belonged to the Columbia Typographical Union No. 101.

He leavers a son Paul D. Dable, who is the supervising director of music in the District public schools. He lives at 1908 Hanover street. Silver Spring.

Services will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Warner Pumphrey Funeral Home, 8434 Georgia avenue, Silver Spring Burial will be in Lititz, Pa."
