Irene Bertha Knigge, 91, of Columbia passed away Monday, May 29, 2006, at Columbia Manor.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at First Assembly of God Church in Columbia. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church.

Irene was born June 1, 1914, in Linnous to Denver C. and Bertha Mae Case Willis, and they preceded her in death.

On July 18, 1934, she married William H. Knigge in Hannibal, and he also preceded her in death.

She was a longtime member of First Assembly of God Church in Columbia.

She worked for many years for the Kroger grocery store in Columbia before retiring in 1973.

Survivors include her son, Jerry Knigge and his wife, Janice, of Columbia; three grandchildren, Charretta Terry and husband Stephen of Bonney Lake, Wash., Jerry Dale Knigge and wife Kim of Columbia and Charles William Knigge of Jefferson City; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters; two brothers, James Willis of Hallsville and Bill Willis of Overland Park, Kan.; three sisters, Dorothy Burge of Columbia, Katherine Johnson of Glendale, Ariz., and Bessie Himelright of Frederick, Md.; and a close, dear friend, the Rev. Norman Hale of Wright City.

She was also preceded in death by five siblings, Alvin C. Willis, Grace Deason, Roy Lee Willis, Beulah Sanders-Sapp and Denver "Bud" Willis.
